We woke up in the late morning most days, ate a light breakfast, and then
headed off to the beach. That's exactly what we did on Monday morning. I
know it's rough, but it sure beat going to work! It was just the 5 of us
visitors that went to the beach on this day though. John and Libby had
other stuff to do, I think. Natalie didn't feel too well at the beach. If
I recall correctly, I think we had our first taste of Pizza Pazza for lunch
afterwards. Then we stopped at a cafe for some cool drinks and sat in the
shade. Donia was walking by and found us, so we chatted with her for a bit.
Although we didn't know it, unfortunately this would be the last time we saw
her as she would be leaving soon. We returned home, showered up to get all
the sand and sunscreen off, and hung out until dinnertime.

For dinner, we went to a Thai food place called Babe's. I was actually not
enthused about the prospect of this dinner at first but it turned out very
well. I had some chicken dish with noodles and all sorts of vegetables and
it easily surpassed my expectations. I also had this gigantic mango
daquiri, which was yummy. It gave me brain freeze though! This was one of
Libby's favorite places to eat but unfortunately she was disappointed with
her food on this night. After dinner, we went to DJ's to get our drink on
and we watched Maddux and the Cubs dominate the Dodgers and pick up a big
win.

Next, we went out to Senor Frogs, which was located just off the docks with
the ferry to Cozumel. I recognized the area from the 1 day we were here
last year for my cousin Jenny's wedding. Senor Frogs was very wild. The
music was very up-tempo and on the dance floor there were tons of people
dancing and grinding on each other, most of them quite young and
questionably above the local drinking age of 18. We kind of stood around
for a while, giggling at all the crazy kids dancing on each other and acting
like complete drunken idiots. It was definitely a younger and wilder crowd
than any so far. Eventually, one large tour group left which took out a
majority of the American tourists. Now there were mostly Mexican people on
vacation and the music changed to a lot of Spanish pop songs. It was cool
to see the locals dance and sing to their music. The crowd was still very
young and the place was closing up soon, so we didn't stay too much longer
though.

The next plan was to try Mambocafe again. We walked over there and couldn't
really gauge if it was happening inside though. Libby presented a coupon to
get us in at a discounted rate but the bouncer dude looked at and then said
it wasn't good today. Unhappy with his response, Libby grabbed the coupon
back from him and started walking off! The dude looked shocked. It was so
funny! The rest of us looked at each other for a minute and then followed
her out. They wouldn't be getting our business tonight! I wish I had video
of that, haha!! We didn't really have a backup plan so we walked around
Playa for a couple minutes and then John and Libby told us about this local
place with cervezas for 12 pesos (slightly less than $1.20). We ended up
heading over there. When we walked inside, you could tell it was not a
tourist place as 98% of the people inside appeared to be Mexicans. But we
grabbed a table and had a few round of beers and still had fun chatting.
This place easily grabbed the award for scariest bathroom' though. The
smell was unbelievably bad even though it didn't look that dirty. And while
it had running water, there was no soap or towels. I think Natalie and
Amanda said the women's bathroom didn't even have a toilet seat. Anyway,
after this we called it a night and went home.
